Has Your Mormon Faith Been Challenged?

You are not alone. Many people experience a challenge to their faith when they encounter new information about LDS Church history or doctrine or have an experience which forces them to reexamine their faith and beliefs.

As I see it, you have four possible choices:

  • Traditional Mormonism - study and reconcile what you have learned with the traditional teachings of the Church.
  • Liberal Mormonism - adjust your view of the Church to be inline with what you have learned.
  • ex-Mormonism - leave the Church altogether.
  • Indifference - maybe you just won't really care about faith going forward.

Below you will find links to information to help you find which path is most appropriate for you:

Shaken Faith Syndrome - An apologetic response to Mormon critics which may help restore your faith in traditional Mormonism. Written by Michael Ash, a prominent member of FAIR. You may also find information at the Maxwell Institute helpful.

How to Stay in the LDS Church after a Major Challenge to Your Faith - This essay is by a well-known Mormon liberal, John Dehlin. Also, take a look at New Order Mormonism.

The ex-Mormon Foundation - A non-profit group dedicated to helping Mormons transition out of the Church. The foundation is loosely affiliated with Recovery from Mormonism and Post-Mormon.
